Perfect

I spent the best day of my Uganda trip at this resort. Ceyda Hanım greeted us at the door with a big smile and made us feel like we were at home. He’s been very helpful with everything. He guided her to canoeing, rafting and many activities. I know I haven’t been able to go to the hotel section and tell you about the hotel yet, but Ceyda was great as the owner and operator of the hotel. Let’s go to the hotel. The location of the hotel was like a dream. Dream. Idyllic. The Nile river is at my feet. Monkeys in the branches… everything was perfect. Meals, rooms, views.

What a hidden gem!

We were recommended this place and stayed for a month whilst shadowing in a local clinic. We where made to feel so welcome and comfortable by all the staff and it truly felt like home. The star of the show is the hostess with mostest Ceyda (pronounced Jayda) whose experience in the industry and personality make this place special, nothing is too much trouble just ask for help.

The views of the Nile are breathtaking and your living with the monkeys (who aren’t scary).
Menu at the black lantern has good veggie options but we where addicted to the Nile Special; beer battered talapia and chips with a fresh side salad #awesome!
Top recommendations:
Book at least a nights stay to be able to eat at the restaurant.
Go out on a sunset boat cruise with Chibi (legend)
And rafting/kayaking with Amina (one of the top female kayakers in Uganda)
(All of the above Ceyda can sort for you)

Fantastic option for jinja

We only stayed one night but will be back again for sure. The communication from start to finish was very friendly and helpful.

The location is perfect and the food in the restaurant was great. What we really liked was the view from our room but also the super friendly host and all the friendly guests there.

The vibe was very laid back and friendly.

Loved it!

Beautiful place on the river nile in jinja

Nile Porch is in a lovely setting on the Nile River in Uganda 🇺🇬.

We stayed in a two bedroom cottage with bath and front porch. It was an ideal location close to the pool and restaurant.
There is also plenty of free parking.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with mature trees and beautiful plants.

The cottage is nicely appointed with two bedrooms and a large living space.

The owner Ceyda is warm and welcoming, providing hands on access if needed.

I highly recommend Nile Porch when visiting Jinja.

Beauty at The Nile porch

We were welcomed by a very natural environment by the riverside. The manager and her staff were very humble. The rooms have the natural touch, a person who loves nature wouldn’t want to leave. The food was good too, and done in good time.

Ceyda is a lovely host!

She was so helpful and was happy to accommodate any little requests we had (a kettle to warm our baby’s bottles, a late checkout, etc.). She also made the stay extra special for our little one with little secret treats like ice cream at dinner! The place has a beautiful view of the river and is green getaway from the city.

Ceyda is also very quick to help if you want to do any local activities and has all the right contacts.

Thanks for a great stay!

Our Favorite Place in Jinja!

We recently had an amazing stay at The Nile Porch. It’s not our first time staying there and it will NOT be our last. We absolutely LOVE this place! The location is just 15 minutes outside of Jinja Town, right on the Nile River. It has some of the best views! The restaurant, The Black Lantern, has great food – especially the Pork Ribs. But the rest of the food is delicious, including the breakfast options.

We have stayed in both the Family Cottage and the Riverside Bandas. Both are unique experiences, and both are wonderful. The Riverside Bandas are peaceful and a bit more tucked-away. Each Banda has a view of the Nile River and gives you a real camping vibe, without sacrificing the conveniences. Glamping on the Nile River! The Family Cottage is great for larger families or groups to share. The common space is relaxing, but the front porch overlooking the swimming pool is great for evening cocktails, morning coffee/tea, or just relaxing.

But the best thing about The Nile Porch is the staff! In the typical Ugandan style, the staff truly cares about each guest as family. But even more than usual. From the manager giving personal attention and learning our names, to the cooks with lovely flare and greetings, and the waitresses helping with anything and everything…these people are great at welcoming and caring for you!

Amazing Hideaway

We stayed here after a day of white water rafting. What an oasis! It’s a tucked away spot that overlooks the Nile and provides an amazing sunset watching.

Accomodations are like glamping – reinforced tents, each with a patio that provides a peaceful lookout of the river. Monkeys play in the plentiful trees around the property. The manager was extremely accommodating, allowing us to keep our room for a very late checkout.

The restaurant is a special treat – homemade breads, organic eggs, spicy curry… so tasty!

As a bonus, the hotel is completely ecofriendly. Stay here if you can!

Definitely worth a visit

What an amazing place to visit and stay! Staff couldn’t be any friendlier and the food was amazing! I did white water rafting here and they were amazing, felt totally safe and I am not the bravest! The lodges overlook the Nile with beautiful views. Watching the monkeys jump and climb through the surrounding trees was an added bonus! Would definitely recommend!

Gorgeous spot

Thanks Bingo and Jada for the whistlestop, unplanned tour of the recently refurbished rooms. It’s been years since I passed by the Black Lantern and it’s great to see that it’s still going strong.

What a gorgeous spot! Not only does it have its own panoramic riverview, the gardens of indigenous plants are mature and lush. The swimming pool looked very inviting and the pondlife intriguing!

Shall definitely be heading back there – for longer – soon. Heard great things about their restaurant.

Our family LOVES The Nile Porch in Jinja

We have stayed on multiple occasions now and have visited different rooms and “tents”. Our top choice is definitely the first Banda/family cottage, but the tents are really very nice too! It’s a quiet place that’s great for a little escape (with it without the kids). You can take a stroll to/through the Camp next door for a little walk, and if you find time please go for a beautiful boat ride. It’s simple but if you like birds it’s a MUST! The food is always great, and the staff are friendly and helpful. The (somewhat new) manager is a gem, she’s wonderful!

Nothing short of incredible

What a beautiful gem overlooking one of the most scenic stretches of river Nile! I made a stopover at it yesterday while on my way back to Kampala for Jinja. It turned out to be just what I needed to cool off and experience the healing power of nature. This is thanks to its abundance of towering trees and a vast array of birds with serenading calls. This gives it the priceless feel of a jungle and even better, it has a fully-fledged restaurant with both indoor and outdoor sitting arenas where one can bond with their loved ones. That is something I liked about it, what I really loved though is that Ceyda, its manager doesn’t take anything for granted. She always ensured that we were as comfortable as possible and well catered for. The rooms at its Nile Porch lodge were equally impressive thanks to their cozy state and beautiful art pieces.

We’ll surely be back here in November for our family holiday. Hopefully, the discounted rates that they are currently offering will still be available.

Great View!

We stayed 2 nights with a group of 15 people which is not easy to handle. The rooms were all ready and clean.
Staff were amazingly helpful.
Breakfast was great.

It is a great place to do some adrenalin activities as they also own a rafting company. We had a great day rafting with their company named Nalubale.
Will come back again!

Very nice, well managed, great view and service, good value for money

We stayed for 3 nights in December 2022 over New Year, the rooms are well done and well kept, all of them have a very nice view of the Nile, the restaurant is good and the property well managed. Very good value for money, very recommanded.

Excellent hospitality and stunning views; especially at sunset.

Nile Porch absolutely saved our trip to Jinja. After originally being booked elsewhere, where we turned up to discover they had double booked, I phoned a friend, who organised with Jada a place for us to stay.

The hospitality we received when we arrived was second to none; a glass of juice ready and waiting for us, after a long and stressful afternoon. Almost instantly we were able to relax in to the serenity of the surroundings, and thankfully, made it there in time to watch the most stunning sunset.

So much thought and effort has been put in to creating such a wonderful space. Even down to the small details, such as fabrics and soft furnishings.

The amenities on site are fantastic, with a great restaurant attached. The food options are incredible, with something to cater for everyone; there are also a great selection of drinks. The food itself is very tasty and generous in portion size.

The staff are very accommodating and helpful, and nothing is ever too much. So much thought and effort goes in to ensuring that you’re able to just sit back and unwind, whilst taking in the beautiful views and vast array of wildlife.

The accommodation itself is fantastic; well thought out, with everything you could need, and filled with oodles of charm. It is clean and the beds are extremely comfortable.

Jada also organised several activities for us whilst we were staying there, including a stunning sunset boat cruise of the River Nile. A fantastic way to see some more of the local wildlife, and take in the beauty of the surrounding area.

If I ever find myself back in that direction, without doubt I would stay there again. What the team at Nile Porch have created, is a space you can just relax and let your external stresses leave your body. I left feeling incredibly rejuvenated and thankful that the other accommodation had let us down; it allowed us to experience hospitality on an entirely different level.

Beautiful place with good restaurant

N00°29.011′, E033°09.856′ From Jinja, follow the unpaved road north to Bodundo on the eastern side of the Nile. Take a left turn and at the sign of The Black Lantern restaurant turn left again. It is next to the Nile River Camp. The Black Lantern restaurant on side is well-known as one of the best in Jinja, although it’s a long way from Jinja. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were delicious. Staff is excellent. The owners, a South-African and Turkish couple, can arrange boot trips on the Nile or white-water rafting. Don’t forget the swimming pool.

In December 2022, we stayed in tent 5, actually a hut with room for 3 persons. It has a double and a single bed with mosquito nets, a couch, veranda, toilet and bathroom with shower. Water for the shower is heated with a sun boiler and a steamer. The view on the river Nile is beautiful. The bed matrass slept hard and the resident cats visited us at night for food. The lodge offers large villas for families. Wi-Fi access at the restaurant only. In December 2022, the village nearby was celebrating for days and nights with extreme loud music, flooding the Nile Porch Lodge. In case, bring your earbuds.

Nile Porch Lodge offers excellent accommodation with a good restaurant. Recommended.

Nile Porch is a real Sanctuary!

Where to start?! Nile Porch is a real sanctuary.
It is a lovely escape on the banks of the Nile river.
We originally only booked for 3 nights and ended up staying for 10. Ceyda is the ultimate host. The best host we have had along our travels. The Nile Porch staff are very friendly. We also found everyone to be very caring. Our stay here was just what we needed during our time in Uganda. We left feeling like part of the family.
Thank you Ceyda & Bingo

Nice view of the nile

This place had an amazing view of the Nile, specially at sunsets. The owner was on site and ready to help with anything, any time. Breakfast and Dinners were perfect.

Could not ask for more in Africa.
